Roger Daily is the Houston Symphony's Director of Education and Community Outreach and manages the orchestra's annual Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition. He is joined in conversation by KUHF's St. John Flynn in the KUHF Talk Studio and, via phone, from from Los Angeles, by the First-Prize-winner from last year's Competition, Hungarian-born cellist, László MezöListen. The ten youthful musicians who have been named semi-finalists in the 2009 Ima Hogg Competition, will perform concerto movements and participate in in-depth spoken interviews with the judges in the contest's next-to-last round … all day tomorrow, beginning at Nine A-M in Rice University's Stude Concert Hall. The Semi-Finals are open to the public and admission is free. The gala Closing-Round Concert, in which the four contenders who have been chosen as Finalists perform complete concertos with the Houston Symphony and guest conductor, Christoph Campestrini, takes place Saturday evening at Seven in Stude Hall.
