Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd and company member Todd Waite talk with us about the Alley's production of Tom Stoppard's play, Rock ‘n' Roll, the story of a Czech student, a communist British Professor and a Flower Child - and the effects that rock music and the social-political movements of the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties have on the characters' lives over the course of two decades...

The Alley Theatre's Artistic Director, Gregory Boyd, staged the company's production of Tom Stoppard's drama, Rock ‘n' Roll … resident company member, Todd Waite, has the lead part of Jan, the Czech student; he appears alongside James Black, Josie de Guzmán and Emily Neves, and a supporting cast of seven other players. All eight of the artists who are participating in the 3rd Annual Fayetteville Chamber Music Festival come to Houston this Wednesday evening at 8:00PM for a recital at the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall; Their program includes pieces for 19th and early 20th Century works for clarinet, strings, and piano. Then the players head back up to Fayetteville for the conclusion of this year's Festival with performances Friday and Saturday night at 8:00PM, and Saturday afternoon at 3:00PM in the Moravian Room of the hundred-year-old Country Place Hotel in downtown Fayetteville. Clarinetist Hakan Rosengren and members of the Biava String Quartet offer a preview from the Geary Performance Studio. This evening at 7:00PM the Wordsmyth Theater Company and the Actors' Gym present a professionally-mounted reading of The Good Son, a drama by Houston-area playwright, Joe Barnes. The cast includes our other two guests, actors Ron Jones and Stuart Purdy.
