File Your Taxes For Free

There are 17 Neighborhood Tax Centers ready to do just that. Elizabeth Colvin runs the program.
"We serve families from 1 to 4 people who make up to 45-thousand dollars a year."
There are higher limits for larger families or those who are unemployed.
All the services are free, from preparation to filing to direct deposit. Colvin says you can find out where to go and what you'll need by calling 2-1-1.
"2-1-1 has the information on all 17 locations, our extended hours this month and they can provide the information on what to bring."
You can also get that information at the Neighborhood Centers Inc website.
All the volunteer tax preparers are I.R.S certified.
"Actually our volunteers have to be trained and pass a test to be able to prepare taxes for the community. And, we are held to a higher standard than other preparers because someone could not pass our test and yet go out and charge to do taxes because there's no regulation of who does taxes."
Colvin says the Neighborhood Tax Center Program is a year round operation so if you have questions or needs after tomorrow they'll be there.
