Kidnapping Investigation Widens

The FBI has joined the investigation of a Pearland woman's kidnaping. Jim Bell reports.

37 year old Susana de Jesus has been missing for seven days now, since she was taken at gunpoint after she left work at a Pearland clothing store.  Pearland Police, the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department, Houston Police, and now the FBI are investigating her disappearance.  FBI Special Agent and spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap:

"Once and individual has gone missing for 24 hours, then it's assumed, or presumed, that they may have crossed state lines. So we are here providing whatever assistance is needed to our local law enforcement partners. We are providing investigative manpower in this case, and we are also conducting some of the analysis, forensic analysis, up at our lab at FBI, the laboratory in Quantico, Virginia."

With five thousand dollars from Houston Crime Stoppers, and now ten thousand from the FBI, the reward for information in this case has grown to fifteen thousand dollars.  Catherine Cabaniss of Crime Stoppers says tipsters can get information to them in several ways.

"Calling Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS, going online at www-dot-crime-dash-stoppers-dot-org, or texting. You can text from your cell phone to 'Crimes'."

Cabaniss says people with information can feel safe about passing it along because by law, information from tipsters must be kept confidential.
