Nina Restoration Project

Corpus Christi will chip in twenty thousand dollars of the cost of restoring one of the three replica sailing ships that were built in Spain and donated to the United States in 1992 on the 500th anniversary of Columbus's first voyage to the new world.
The full scale copies of the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria were on display in Corpus Christi when two of them were damaged in a barge collision and drydocked for repairs. The third ship, the Nina, is now falling apart and needs a serious rehab.
The Spanish Consulate in Houston is now asking for donations to restore the Nina. Once the repairs are done, Nina will sail to Galveston for several weeks of public display, followed by a sail across Galveston Bay to Kemah.
